Robot couple tie the knot
The first ever robot wedding took place in Japan. Two robots, Frois and Yukirin tied the knot in Tokyo, concluding the ceremony with an awkward kiss.
The bride glided down the aisle accompanied by “her father”, in a long white dress, fashioned in resemblance to the Japanese pop star Yuki Kashiwagi.
The room was filled with approximately 100 guests; each which had paid $81 to witness the significant occasion. To complete the idea of a realistic “robot wedding” the guests were even sent invitations presenting a photograph of the engaged couple.
Two humans voiced the ceremony as the couple stood soundlessly waiting for the big moment. Frois the groom, a red and silver robot, dressed with a black tie, ejected a silver disc from his mouth to end the ceremony with a very uncomfortable kiss.
After the couple was “married”, robot dancing, music and cake were next to begin. Various coloured robots approached the stage to begin the dance performances. A well timed, choreographed dance, engaged guests with surrounding music and a beat to follow.
The delicious buffet and a tiered cake were beautifully presented, scattered with pink petals lining the multiple layers of the cake. Robots even cut the cake!
The futuristic changes are surprising, as the traditions in Japan are very different to the influence of the western-style weddings and technology. Despite historic traditions, Japan has become the first to bring a robotic couple together in a ceremonial event.
Five years beforehand, a four-foot robot named I-Fairy conducted the wedding of a real-life wedding ceremony, for a couple living in Tokyo, Japan. The event claimed to be the first event of its kind.
The robot couple is a big image to our future. Not just in marriages, but hotels, stores etc. are beginning to run Robot tests. These robot tests are allowing new inventions such as the robot to be put into use. This can help companies to save money.
The Henn Na hotel has opened in Japan, where guests check in, with robots that also give special delivery of luggage to rooms. The English-speaking receptionist is a dinosaur and the Japanese-speaking is a female humanoid who blinks just like a real life human.
New technologies are bringing out very different and unusual inventions that will be hard for traditional customs from all around the world to adjust to. The new inventions such as the robot may be improved and allow simple jobs to be done such as the receptionist.
